CounterRACSM

The Recovery Audit Contractor (RAC) program is a new initiative by the Center for Medicare and Medicaid (CMS) that searches for discrepancies in CMS payments to providers. According to the RAC Demonstration Program, the RACs are primarily identifying overpayments, which means the underpayments that benefit the provider go unnoticed.

While creating CounterRACSM, MDI asked:

• How can providers put the same amount of effort and technology into finding underpayments as the RACs are putting into finding overpayments?
• How can providers prevent errors in the first place?

The answer is CounterRACSM

MDI’s provider-centric CounterRACSM program assists you by:

1. Running claims data against complex business and coding rules using advanced technology focused on underpayments rather than overpayments.
2. Providing you with actionable results you can use to file for reimbursement.
3. Ensuring your claims are clean before you submit.
4. Identifying continuing education opportunities for your coding staff.
