Jim Long | Chief Financial Officer

Jim joined MDI in January 2012 as CFO.  He has worked with Larry Schor, MDI’s CEO, for over 20 years when they were both executives at CoreSource, which was at that time the largest third party administrator in the country.  Prior to joining MDI, Jim was Interim CFO for a fast-growing health care services firm that had acquired three businesses within 3 months.  Prior to that he was EVP and CFO of The Camelot Schools.  As CFO, he led the effort, along with the Company’s investment bankers, to sell the Company in two simultaneous transactions.  Prior to joining Camelot, Jim undertook a variety of assignments through his consulting firm, Empresario Partners.  Importantly these included a long assignment with MedAI, a healthcare analytics firm focused on providers, health plans and disease management firms.  At MedAI, he served as Interim CFO, developed a strategic plan for the Board of Directors, provided strategic sales management services and ultimately participated in the sale of the Company to Reed Elsevier.  In addition, at Empresario, he assisted a number of health care client firms in preparing for and completing corporate finance events, capital raises or sales.  Prior to forming Empresario, he was VP and CFO of Rodeer Systems a troubled aggregator of medical transcription firms around the country that was eventually sold in four transactions.  At CoreSource, he was Interim CFO and eventually CFO where he worked closely with Larry Schor and other executives to restructure the Company’s corporate office functions, bank debt, cash management and operations.  He led the sale of l the Company in four transactions over a 2 year period to strategic investors.   Previously, he was a VP at Nightingale & Associates, a boutique bankruptcy and restructuring firm.  He began his career in the consulting operations of Price Waterhouse and Touche Ross (now Deloitte & Touche).  He has a BA in Latin American Studies (economics) and a MBA in Finance from the University of Texas at Austin.
