Leading health benefit management software developer integrates MDI Viewpoint Analytics to provide added value for third party administrators and their customers.

Jacksonville, FL & Phoenix, AZ – May 18, 2011– Healthcare analytics developer, MDI, today announced a strategic partnership with Eldorado, a health benefits management software developer and division of MphasiS, to provide a combined health data warehouse and analytics solution for payers.

Eldorado is a leader in automated software and business processing administration for healthcare payers. Their customers include third-party administrators, insurance companies, self-funded employers, PPOs, associations, managed care organizations and unions. By combining MDI Viewpoint Analytics with Eldorado’s existing extensive database of member health information, the company will provide payers with a scalable, hosted solution for all of their healthcare data needs. Within their own organizations, payers will enjoy comprehensive clinical and financial analytics, including powerful reporting, data visualizations and drill-down capabilities. This improved visibility and flexibility of their data will help payers improve administrative efficiency and validate their performance.

The real advantage of Viewpoint Analytics integration will come from what it allows payers to do for their clients. MDI’s innovative Gaps in Care solution will provide administrators with greater visibility into benefits plans and allow them to make adjustments to improve quality of care and reduce costly claims in the future. Predictive Cost and Patient Risk Score Assessments offer an evidence-based forecast of patient health and healthcare spending, which provides even greater insight into future risk. Ultimately, the combination of Eldorado’s product suite and MDI’s powerful analytics will help payers provide meaningful information and guidance, add value to their services and support long-term relationships with their clients.

“I think these two solutions will really enrich the capabilities and effectiveness of each other,” said Ted Willich, CEO of MDI. “Eldorado’s platform will provide our software with a rich repository of member health information. In turn, Viewpoint Analytics will provide their clients with greater flexibility and visibility into that information than they’ve ever had before.”

“This is a strategic partnership for Eldorado and we’re excited to offer this integrated solution,” said Tom Castleberry, President of Eldorado. “Better information access and the ability to analyze data for more informed decision making is a key competitive differentiator for our clients and we know they will benefit from this combined offering.”

MDI has just completed a new release of its industry-leading healthcare analytics solution, including improved risk scoring, more accurate predictive modeling, and integrated disease monitoring from McKesson.

Ponte Vedra, FL – February 15, 2011

MDI has released a major enhancement to Viewpoint Analytics, a powerful web-based data warehousing, management, and reporting solution. Among the biggest additions to Viewpoint’s suite of capabilities, MDI has integrated McKesson’s CareEnhance® Disease Monitor solution, improved Viewpoint’s innovative medical risk scoring, and enhanced overall reporting speed and performance through data cubing. This enhancement is the largest software release ever for MDI, which has created custom provider networks and analytics platforms since 1992.

Viewpoint Analytics is a comprehensive data warehousing and analytics solution, providing secure storage and role-based reporting capabilities for employers, payers, administrators, providers and more. Viewpoint data warehousing aggregates and normalizes medical and pharmacy claims data, lab data, eligibility data, and more into a single, flexible database. From there, users can run standard reports, create custom analyses, drilldown, and visualize information in near real-time.

The newest release of Viewpoint Analytics offers a number of enhancements, including:

Disease Monitor Integration
Viewpoint users can now utilize McKesson’s Disease Monitor to identify and track more than twenty chronic diseases. Once a chronic disease has been identified, disease managers can apply clinical algorithms to determine the best type of intervention, detect treatment failures or non-compliance, and monitor comorbidities and complications.

Medical Risk Score Modeling
The Risk Score is a proprietary program that identifies patient’s overall health risk from a clinical and financial point of view. The tool combines severity, frequency, pharmacy, and cost data for a patient, then compares them against an extensive database of past healthcare claims to determine the patient’s overall score.

Enhanced Predictive Modeling & Reporting
Viewpoint’s already powerful predictive modeling software has also been improved, including a more accurate decision-tree model and a sliding scale that allows users to adjust predicted costs according to specific time frames or events. Additional reporting features include the ability to automatically send up-to-date reports to multiple users at regularly scheduled intervals.

Data Cubing
Many of the new features and capabilities of Viewpoint Analytics are made possible through MDI’s advanced data cubing technologies. Data is mapped to a multi-dimensional database, which organizes information by patient, provider, diagnosis, procedure, eligibility, Rx, demographics, and a variety of custom fields. Once in place, these “data cubes” automatically calculate relationships between data points, dramatically improving the speed and accuracy of reports across the board.

Enhanced Pharmacy Data
As part of the database enhancements, MDI has also integrated more pharmacy data, providing better analytics and reporting of patient’s pharmaceutical expenses. With the rising costs of pharmacy claims, these capabilities will provide customers with even greater awareness of their healthcare spending.

The full software release involved the development and deployment of fourteen distributed applications, combined in a single, web-based solution.

“This is by far the largest software update and release we’ve ever taken on, and I think it pushes Viewpoint Analytics well beyond the feature sets of most healthcare data solutions,” said Chris Gray, Director of Software Development for MDI. “With the flexibility and the capabilities we offer here, Viewpoint can help any number of employers, providers, and healthcare professionals take control of their data to improve quality of care and reduce healthcare spending.”

Titusville medical center combining integrated delivery and data management in new ACO model

Jacksonville, FL – January 31, 2011

Community Health Network of Central Florida (CHN), an Integrated Delivery Network (IDN), in partnership with Parrish Medical Center (PMC), has implemented MDI’s Viewpoint Analytics healthcare technology as they move toward creating an accountable care organization. Parrish Medical Center and CHN will use MDI’s healthcare data warehousing and healthcare analytics solutions to strengthen their existing integrated delivery system.

The CHN, which includes PMC and area doctors, contracts directly with employers and health plans to provide healthcare services for residents along Florida’s Space Coast. Administrators within the network use an extensive electronic medical records (EMR) system to manage patient flow from check-in to check-out and streamline processes across clinical specialties and a number of locations.

Today, hospital administrators have taken the next step in improving healthcare delivery by putting medical data to its highest use – preventative care. Applying analytics to EMR is the key for care coordination among providers and the new standard for preventative health measures that encourage healthy outcomes. After a detailed review and presentation process, CHN and PMC selected MDI’s Viewpoint Analytics as the solution that best fit their current needs and ongoing development in preventative care services.

In its current implementation, Viewpoint Analytics helps case managers at PMC and affiliated hospital organizations improve management and outcomes for patients with chronic diseases. With improved insight into patient health and chronic disease states, case managers can develop management, compliance and intervention strategies to reduce expensive hospitalizations, readmissions and procedures.

As CHN and PMC continue to grow its network, Viewpoint’s robust data management, healthcare informatics and analytics will assist in greater population health and risk management. Detailed cost and utilization reporting will also play a critical role in the pay-for-performance arrangement of integrated delivery systems and accountable care organizations.

“As the market moves more towards the ACO model, the need for stable, scalable data management will continue to grow,” said Ted Willich, President of MDI. “Parrish Medical Center has been a leader in the healthcare market for many years now—from their advancements in evidence-based treatment to their focus on creating healing environments for their patients—and the step toward this new model is another example of their vision and initiative.”

Pennylvania-based community hospital works with MDI and Central Susquehanna Healthcare Providers to develop a new model for employee healthcare services

Ponte Vedra, FL – December 22, 2010

MDI recently executed a contract with Evangelical Community Hospital in Lewisburg, PA, to provide a custom provider network and healthcare analytics to support the hospital’s employee healthcare benefits.

MDI’s provider contracting services will be integrated with the hospital’s existing plan, providing additional coverage for services not available at Evangelical. Combined with MDI Viewpoint Analytics, this integrated system will form the basis of a future Accountable Care Organization (ACO) that will serve the hospital’s surrounding community.

Evangelical Community Hospital has provided quality healthcare to Lewisburg, Union, Snyder and Northumberland counties since 1926. The hospital has grown with the needs of the community, providing comprehensive health services that are high quality, compassionate, accessible and cost-effective.

Evangelical’s implementation of a Custom Provider Network and healthcare analytics within their employee benefits plan is the first step in providing the surrounding community with an affordable, high quality integrated health delivery system.

To begin this process, MDI will develop a Carepoint Custom Provider Network (CPN™) for the hospital’s 775 employees and their families, designed to help Evangelical control costs for services provided outside the hospital system. This network will cover services not provided within the hospital’s own network of providers. MDI’s Carepoint CPN™ allows employers to create a network to suit their needs through employee requests and strategic partnerships throughout the community.

“We were drawn to MDI’s ability to combine employer-focused provider networks with powerful healthcare analytics,” said Kelly Geise, Director of Managed Care for Central Susquehanna Healthcare Providers, Inc. (CSHP).  “Our partnership with MDI will ultimately provide local employers with an affordable healthcare option that delivers the quality care their employees deserve.”

Evangelical’s network will also benefit from MDI Viewpoint Analytics, a data management and analytics solution that will provide administrators with a comprehensive view of their medical costs for both domestic and non-domestic services. Viewpoint Analytics will also allow a variety of users within the organization to manage claims data, billing, administration, as well as population health and risk management.

“Viewpoint’s predictive capabilities will help us predict trends and plan for the future,” said Geise. “As we move towards an accountable care world, we need to look inward at our plan before we can move outward.”

“We’ve enjoyed a long-standing relationship with Evangelical, after collaborating on a number of networks for government entities,” said Ted Willich. “It’s great to be a part of their growth as we all adapt to the changing healthcare marketplace. Integrating their network and analytics solutions will give Evangelical a head start as they put the pieces together for future ACO development.”

Jacksonville, FL – December 17, 2010

MDI announced today that it has added McKesson’s CareEnhance® Disease Monitor software to the Viewpoint Analytics solutions portfolio. Integrating one of the industry’s leading disease management products increases the breadth of solutions available from Viewpoint Analytics.

Disease Monitor uses patient medical data and pharmacy claims data to assist with early identification of at-risk populations, monitoring those diagnosed with chronic disease, and ensuring the appropriate use of medications and compliance with nationally recognized care guidelines. Benefits managers and wellness professionals can use this information to monitor patient progress based upon industry accepted disease management protocols. Disease Monitor supports the most common chronic diseases and conditions and can be easily customized to include other diseases as needed.

With the goal of controlling costs, managing risk and improving quality outcomes, Viewpoint Analytics and the Disease Monitor application tool will help MDI clients address gaps in care for its member populations.

“McKesson’s Disease Monitor is a perfect fit with our data warehouse and analytics solution,” says Ted Willich, President of MDI. “We’ve worked hard to create a tool that makes healthcare data more useful for a wide range of decision support needs. Our analytics tool helps customers focus on cost and usage of healthcare, and with the addition of at-risk patient monitoring, they can effect change in population health sooner.”

“Monitoring at-risk populations and those already diagnosed with chronic diseases provides a more meaningful understanding of their condition and progress. That understanding leads to better care, which can reduce the long-term effects and costs of chronic diseases. Everybody wins.”

Ponte Vedra, FL – December 6, 2010

MDI founder and Chairman, Richard Willich, was invited to a ceremony and pep rally held in honor of star high school football player, Tony Steward’s selection as a U.S. Army All-American. Steward invited Willich to attend the selection celebration as his VIP guest, honoring Willich for his military service and support of youth and high school sports in the area.

Steward, a senior at Pedro Menendez High School in St. Augustine, is one of just 90 high school football players in the nation selected to play in the 2011 Army All-American Bowl on January 8th, 2011 in San Antonio, Texas.  As part of this exclusive award, each player is honored at a special Selection Tour event, held in his hometown.

For his event, Steward invited MDI Chairman and retired Marine Lt. Colonel, Richard Willich to be his VIP Honoree. In addition to more than 30 years in the United States Marine Corps, Mr. Willich is actively involved in youth sports and education through the philanthropic efforts of MDI, a healthcare services and technology company in Ponte Vedra. Since founding the company, Willich has become known for his involvement in the community and his vision for creating healthy futures in education, youth sports and local healthcare initiatives.

Among his many contributions to area youth activities, Willich purchased new uniforms and equipment for Pedro Menendez High School this season. He has also donated money for equipment and uniforms to the Hastings Police Athletic League (PAL) in Jacksonville for a number of years, a youth football league where Steward played for several years.

“You never know what an impact you can make with generosity,” said Richard Willich. “An area business man donates to a small-town public league or a local school, and a few years later one of those young men is in a position to make a huge impact on his community. Tony is a great athlete, and an incredible person, and I’m honored that he would include me in this exciting day.”

The event celebrating Tony Steward’s selection was held today at Pedro Menendez High School in Steward’s hometown of St. Augustine, Florida.

You can see Steward play in the U.S. Army All-American Bowl on January 8th, 2011, live on NBC.

After reading to a group of third-graders on a recent visit to Timberlin Creek Elementary, MDI Chairman Richard Willich handed each one an iPod Touch along with several iPads for use in their classroom. The donation is part of MDI’s TIP Program (Touch-screen Interactive Program), which aims to improve the reading levels of third and fourth grade students at elementary schools in the St. Augustine area.

Timberlin Creek was selected along with Crookshank and Ketterlinus Elementary schools because these schools have a high number of students reading below the expected reading level. Education experts agree that third and fourth grade is a crucial time to bring students up to speed.

The reading levels of each student will be tracked and compared with students of similar initial skill levels and abilities. It is expected that the interactive nature of the touch-screen technology will keep students engaged in the learning process and motivate them to read more. The new technology will also help teachers to reach each student at his or her individual level.

“We know what a difference technology can make in resolving difficult problems, whether its controlling rising healthcare costs or improving children’s education,” says Willich. “I’ve worked with the schools in our community for a long time, and I’m really excited about the potential for the TIP program to make a difference in their education.”

“Everything our students learn from this point on depends on how well they can read and comprehend the information, no matter what the subject,” says Timberlin Creek Principal Cathy Hutchins. “We’re just thrilled to have this opportunity, and very thankful to have a company like MDI in our community.”
