MDI Government Healthcare Solutions on Friday said it landed a $30 million contract with the Bureau of Land Management to provide health care analytics, patient scheduling and a nationwide network for medical examinations.

The contract was awarded for a period of five years to provide services to the U.S. Department of the Interior bureau.

The Ponte Vedra-based division of MDI Holdings in December added the Predictive Index, a data analytics tool to predict future medical costs for business, to its mix of health care risk management solutions including claims monitoring and customer provider network offerings.

The company last year relocated to a new $20 million headquarters, which houses state-of-the-art information technology systems and a large collection of historical and local artwork.

The company employs more than 200 people between the two MDI Holdings subsidiaries, MDI Government Healthcare Services and MDI Healthcare Solutions.

PONTE VEDRA, Fla., –  MDI Healthcare Solutions, based in Ponte Vedra, Florida, has announced the creation of the second-generation E.A.R.L.® adding to the MDI Analytics Suite—a collection of predictive analytics technologies that are revolutionizing healthcare risk management. E.A.R.L.® (Empowered Analysis and Reporting Log) was created with Microsoft Silverlight, a browser plug-in that powers rich interactive experiences through Web, desktop and mobile applications.

“Our customers have been using the E.A.R.L.® technology for almost two years,” said MDI Healthcare

Solutions President Ted Willich., “We have been working on this latest iteration for the better part of 2009, and what we’ve created is a detailed graphic representation of data that up until now has been very hard to understand.”

E.A.R.L.® is a user-friendly graphic tool that visualizes a patient’s medical history, including diagnoses, claims and pharmacy information. Through an interactive visual interpretation of the human body, users are able to review claim-supported patient history at a glance. Color identifies the severity of the affected organs, bones, and areas within the body, allowing customers to quickly focus on high risk situations. E.A.R.L.® is accessed through a secure portal by MDI’s customers, protecting patient identity and privacy.

The newest generation E.A.R.L.® was created with the help of Henry Lee of New Age Solution, LLC, a

Jacksonville-based web development company and Microsoft Silverlight partner.

The second-generation E.A.R.L.® is part of the company’s newly-launched MDI Analytics Suite which allows users to analyze and manipulate data to manage current and future healthcare costs. MDI’s driven staff, along with Silverlight’s rapid development capabilities, made it possible to create and implement this product in a very short timeframe.

“Silverlight enables a variety of business application scenarios, and Microsoft looks forward to seeing how the healthcare industry will benefit from MDI Healthcare Solutions’ new Silverlight-based E.A.R.L technology,” said Steve Sklepowich, director for Silverlight at Microsoft Corp. “E.A.R.L. is a great example of how companies can use Silverlight to power rich, line of business applications that provide users with an efficient, visual way to interpret data.”

Another component of the MDI Analytics Suite is the Predictive Index™ — a data analytics tool that allows customers to examine past and present healthcare costs, but most importantly predict future exposure. MDI’s world class technology provides business intelligence driven by diagnosis and healthcare spend. Through the Predictive Index™, MDI’s customers are able to access E.A.R.L® to gain a visual understanding of an individual’s medical history.
