August 17, 2010 – Ponte Vedra, Florida
MDI, a healthcare technology and data management company in Ponte Vedra, Florida, has recently been awarded security certification from the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST). MDI’s healthcare data warehousing and analytics solutions were deemed compliant with the security requirements of SP 800-53A, the catalog of security controls and technical guidelines for protecting federal information and information systems.
This certification provides assurance to organizations that their data warehousing solution is secured to the highest standards. The arduous certification process was extensive, time consuming, and required a tremendous amount of effort by the IT Development and Administration teams. The company is pleased to have achieved this certification as it is a recognized symbol that protected patient data information is secure.
“This is an important certification for us, and our team has worked hard to ensure we meet the strictest U.S. government standards for data security,” said Ted Willich, President of MDI’s Commercial Operations. “This certification not only reassures our customers that their private data is secure and accessible, it also opens door for more growth into emerging healthcare data technologies.”
NIST Special Publication 800-53A provides guidelines for managing the configuration of information system architectures and associated components for secure processing, storing, and transmitting information. MDI’s evaluation and certification was based upon applying technical, managerial and operational controls to MDI’s data warehousing facility and services for a federal client.
