MDI Holds “Tilt Up” Party at Nocatee Construction Site

Ponte Vedra, Fla. – Medical Development International (MDI) celebrated the progress of its new headquarters Friday with a “Tilt Up” party held at the building’s construction site in Nocatee. The event enabled MDI to recognize Elkins Constructors, Inc. and their subcontractors for their work on the building while also giving MDI employees a chance to see the progress made on their future job site.

Reminiscent of an 18th-century “Barn Raising,” an event during which a community comes together to raise the walls of a barn, the “Tilt Up” party kicked off with a crane lifting one of the building’s three-story-high concrete walls into place. MDI and Elkins employees, together with community guests, celebrated the construction while enjoying a catered lunch and live entertainment from local classic rock band “Rail 79.”

The construction is part of a $50 million project comprised of three buildings that together will form the MDI Office Park at Nocatee.
“MDI will open this year as our first commercial resident in Nocatee,” said Rick Ray, a partner with The PARC Group. “MDI is establishing a high standard for design and architecture within our Town Center and we look forward to seeing the finished product.”
MDI’s offices will be located in the main building, which will be three stories and approximately 75,000 square feet. The office structure will also be home to two of MDI’s subsidiary companies, Medical Partners of America (MPA) and Reassure Technologies International (RTI). The construction of the main building is on schedule for completion in December 2008.

The two future buildings will be two stories tall and approximately 50,000 square feet each. All buildings were designed by architectural firm Wakefield, Beasley and Associates and will include amenities such as 24-hour gas powered back up generators, a redundant fiber optic connection and category 4-5 construction with impact resistant windows.
